Devon Solicitors call for charity runners

Gilbert Stephens LLP is calling for fifty runners to support local blind charity, the West of England School for young people with little or no sight, by raising money through sponsorship and taking part in this year’s Great West Run.

Gilbert Stephens LLP has launched the campaign with the charity to officially announce its relationship with the specialist school which looks after over 100 blind or visually impaired children and young people at the school’s site on Topsham Road.
Philip Luckham, CEO comments: “We are keen supporters of the fantastic work done by the school and this year we selected them as our charity of the year. We hope that our appeal for runners will convince those undecided about whether they should take part to get out their running shoes and raise money for this very worthwhile charity.” Gilbert Stephens will be providing a T-shirt for runners that take part on behalf of WESC. Caroline Burkie, Fundraiser and PR Officer for WESC, said: “We are really proud to be working with Gilbert Stephens in a Charity of the Year partnership. Their first campaign to find us 50 Great West Run runners just goes to show how dedicated they are to supporting the children and young people at WESC.
Money raised through sponsorship by the runners who join us will help us get closer to our current fundraising projects which include a new mini bus and laptops. Both of these projects provide a vital life line for the children and young people at WESC with a visual impairment and for those who contend with complex needs. Please join us!”
The Great West Run takes place on 6th May in Exeter, with a half marathon, 5k and option of a 2 mile family fun run. WESC have guaranteed discounted places for just £25.00 instead of the usual £33.50 and the closing date for entry is 22 April.
