STUDENT Bradley Nash, is over the moon to be carrying the Olympic torch.
The 20-year-old resident of the National Star College in Cheltenham, who has from cerebral palsy, has been chosen as one of 8,000 people to take the flame across the country.
The self-confessed sports fanatic is delighted to take it 300 metres across its nationwide journey.
Bradley, a performing arts student at the college, said: "I'm honoured to be representing my country for the Olympics and am really looking forward to the event."
Bradley's mum, Natalie Mitchell, said: "He always has a smiling attitude and deserves to be commended for the things he has done. He has never let life get him down.
"He has been sports mad from an early age and was always a spectator because of his limitations.
"Then he started going to a school where they had excellent disability sport facilities that were adapted for him and he got to have a go at everything.
"He loves being able to get involved."
Bradley, a resident of the National Star College, was nominated to be a torch bearer by friends from a group in his home town of Walsall, near Birmingham, who know about his love of sports.
It is there he will be carrying the flame on June 30.
Natalie said: "He is absolutely over the moon about carrying the torch.
"He has tried to play it cool, but I know he is really proud of himself.
"It will really be his moment and something to enjoy for himself.
"He is very patriotic but I don't think he realises how many people will be on the streets cheering him on and celebrating his achievements."
Bradley started living at the National Star College during term time in September, having never been away from home before.
His mum, 42, said: "He loves it there and is learning to be more independent."
The school is looking at getting a minibus so Bradley's friends can watch him carry the torch near Birmingham.
Natalie, Bradley's former full time carer, said: "I know when I see home I will get a bit emotional and I am sure there will be floods of tears."
Julian Ralph, head of the sports department at Ullenwood college for learners who have physical, sensory or learning disabilities, will also be carrying the torch.
The 33-year-old from Gloucester will take the honour of torch bearer in his home town on May 24.
