Lorry driver died at the wheel before crashing through hedge

A 62-YEAR-OLD man was confirmed dead at the scene of a road accident after the HGV he was driving left the road, crashing through a hedge.

The vehicle was towing a low loader laden with a HGV digger when it left the road and ploughed through the shrubbery before coming to a stop in a field.

It was owned by a Market Rasen firm, although details on whether the man was local or from outside of the county have not been confirmed by police.

A post mortem examination revealed the driver had been taken ill and died at the wheel, making his death a case of natural causes, rather than a Lincolnshire road death, police said.

The accident happened on the A631 Bishopbridge, near Market Rasen, at 7.15am on Tuesday.

The road was closed between 9am and 11.45am so investigators could inspect the scene and to allow the vehicle to be recovered.

No one else was reported to have been injured in the accident and there are no reports of other vehicles being involved.
