Local man dies after accident at East Kirkby near Spilsby

A LOCAL man has been killed after a motorvehicle crash on a road at East Kirkby, near Spilsby.


The emergency services were called to the A155, Main Road at East Kirkby at around 5.40pm on Saturday after a grey Jaguar car and a red Ducati 1000cc collided.

The rider of the motor cycle, a 53-year-old old local man, was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police do not expect to name the victim until later today (Monday).

The driver of the Jaguar, a 56-year-old man from Cambridge, was initially arrested under charges of causing death by careless driving. He was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The death brind the number of people killed on Lincolnshire’s road this year to 13 - well up on the eight who had been killed by the same time last year. The local man is the third motorcyclist to be killed since the beginning of the year.
